Centerpoints
A film on the connection between human behavior and the built environment
Centerpoints
Centerpoint
The pinnacle of the work features a hyperlapse sequence circulating the Burj Khalifa from 150 vantage points in a 2 kilometer radius. In the midst of the age of speed and movement, the subject looks for tranquility in his center by calibrating the senses. The City and the Self relate to the "eye of a storm" in which the peaceful center is surrounded by the chaotic weather. The film explores a dialectic between the urban fabric and the human interaction through a possible resolution of the routine.
"Centerpoints" is a film highlighting the struggle of a young urban professional reconciling ideas of faith, identity, conviction, and place. The imagery seeks to invoke a connection between human behavior and the built environment. Ideas were explored through a series of digressions in media; the lyrics informed the music, and the music informed the film.

Lyrics
battle scars lace my mouth
the words I choose carry
I speak the common tongue
but no one understands me
I don't take cues easily
can't read signs in front me
I walk my own line
I walk my own line peacefully
my sources are rich
yet my pockets run short
but I hunt to survive
never needing more
and my lids open wide
diamonds only blind me
gold is just color
never has it lined me
silver fills my cloud
but rarely does it form
clocks are running down
my patience lasts the storm
this is a declaration to myself
i own me
my name is never chanted
and my signature is not set
I stand amongst a crowd
and no one feels my breath
but my thoughts run deep
and they echo in my head
I'll forever be myself
until the second I'm dead
my sources are rich
yet my pockets run short
but I hunt to survive
never needing more
and my lids open wide
diamonds only blind me
gold is just color
never has it lined me
silver fills my cloud
but rarely does it form
clocks are running down
my patience lasts the storm
this is a declaration to myself
i own me
